OKARA:

Police claimed to have arrested a suspect who was involved in murdering a student four years ago in Okara, Express News has learnt.

Saddar Circle DSP Chaudhry Ziaul Haq said 20-year-old S*, a resident of 33-2R Village, was on her way to college for her BA exams when she went missing. He added that her body was later recovered from the fields.

He maintained that a team, comprising SHO Ijaz Dogar and Homicide In Charge Khadim Hussain, carried out investigations and managed to trace the culprit.

The DSP highlighted that the police team raided a spot and arrested the murder suspect identified as Zain, a resident of 35-2R Village. During the course of investigations, the DSP revealed that the suspect confessed to murdering the victim.

He elaborated that Zain used to pick and drop S* from college and the two developed relations. Haq revealed that the accused promised to marry the girl and sexually exploited her on two occasions.

The police official disclosed that when the victim demanded that he fulfill his promise, he refused to the knot, citing personal reasons. He said that in a bid to rid of S*, the accused strangled her to death and dumped the body in the fields.
