Cabinet cuts short trip for govt jobs

CM directs formation of new recruitment committees on district and division levels to facilitate the people

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has issued directions for the constitution of committees on district and division levels to facilitate the people of the province in search of government jobs.

The move will save the people time as they will not have to travel to Quetta for the purpose.

Chairing a meeting at the CM Secretariat on Monday, the chief minister directed departments on district and division levels to fill the vacant Grade 1 to 15 posts.

The new recruitment committee will comprise of the division’s commissioner as its chairman and additional commissioners as its members.

CM Kamal directed the Services and General Administration Department to issue a notification regarding establishment of a new recruitment committee.

It is pertinent to mention here that provincial cabinet had announced to fill vacant posts on district and division levels so the candidates could avoid long trips to the provincial capital.

According to the government’s new policy, the candidates have been allowed to submit applications in their native districts without having to travel to Quetta.

Separately, the Balochistan government has decided to hold a literary festival in Quetta.

Chief Minister Kamal granted approval to hold the literary festival in the provincial capital.

Kamal gave directives to invite all national and international intellectuals, poets and writers to participate in the festival.

Chairing another high-level meeting on Monday, Kamal directed the education department to design the buildings of all educational institutes across districts keeping in mind the weather condition of the province.

The CM and the concerned departments’ secretaries reviewed the progress on various development projects in the province and decided to complete the PC1 of new development schemes.

Kamal directed the education department to construct new school buildings under the Chief Minister Initiative Programme and ensure that the designs were suitable for the weather.

“The performance of government departments can be improved if they proceed in the right direction,” said Kamal, adding that the provincial government would support departments working with honesty.

“Balochistan is a suitable region for new dams,” said Kamal, directing the Public Health Engineering Department to recommend locations for the construction of new dams in the province following the recent spate of rains.
