The Academy Awards red carpet was full of colour this year. From red ruffles to pink tulle, Hollywood's creme de la creme went all out when it came to their attires.
1. Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga brought old Hollywood glamour in an Alexander McQueen black gown and leather gloves. She also had the bling to match: a 128 carat diamond necklace from Tiffany.
2. Glenn Close
Front-runner to win Best Actress, The Wife star Glenn Close chose a shimmering gold Carolina Herrera tunic. The outfit entailed four million beads and a heavy flowing train, setting the evening off on the right note. She looked like the gold statuette herself. Also, apparently Close's dress weighed a whopping 19kg! Woah!
3. Linda Cardellini
While pink made a major play, red ruffles were the choice of a bevy of stars. But the theme was taken to the next level by Green Book star Linda Cardellini whose oversized flounce cascaded in layers, cinched at the waist with a pink belt.
4. Kacey Musgraves
Recent Grammy-winner Kacey Musgraves also chose oversized ruffles in her princess-like Giambattista Valli, with two poofs of pink tulle at the shoulder and a skirt covered in layers of tulle in Barbie-doll pink.
5. Billy Porter
The most outrageous - yet still perfectly in keeping with Oscar chic - was Pose star Billy Porter, who wore a black velvet tuxedo gown designed by Christian Siriano. The top was a classic tuxedo with a built-in bodice and the bottom a full, dramatic sweep of fabric. Interesting to say the least.

6. Adam Lambert
Making a milder red carpet choice was singer Adam Lambert, who performed with British band, Queen. He wore an orchid on the lapel of his Tom Ford tuxedo with oversized cuffs, as a dramatic swirling diamond earring completed the look.
7. Spike Lee
Best Director nominee Spike Lee was one of the first to arrive on the famous carpet, setting the tone of the evening in a purple suit, matching purple glasses, purple chauffeur’s cap and gold Jordans. He was apparently paying tribute to late pop icon Prince with all the purple.
