Doctor gunned down outside his house

Separately, a 50-year-old woman died while her daughter was seriously injured when a car ran over them

Unidentified men shot dead a 29-year-old doctor outside his house in Defense A area on Saturday.

According to the police, the incident occurred when Dr Osama, who is a resident of Defense A area of phase III, was sitting in a car with his friend sub-inspector Asad Watoo.


Police said some armed men riding two motorcycles opened fire at the car. As a result, Osama suffered serious injuries while Watoo was hit in his finger. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital where the doctors confirmed the death of Osama. After examining the crime site, Watoo and his friend Zubair were taken into custody as the incident raised suspicions. The police said that Watoo is a sub-inspector posted at Diyalpur and he had come to meet Dr Osama. The CCTV camera footages from nearby buildings were also being examined. The facts will come to light after investigations.

A case has been registered on the statement of the deceased's uncle Zaheer Qadri. Police took the body into their custody and shifted it for a postmortem.

In a separate incident, a 50-year-old woman named Nazeeran Bibi, a resident of Bilal Colony in Chung, died in a road accident. Police said she, along with her daughter, Samira, was heading towards a market to buy groceries when a fast-moving car ran over her. As a result, Nazeeran died on the spot while Samira was seriously injured. The deceased and injured were taken to a nearby hospital.

Similarly, at least 10 people suffered injuries when a van overturned in Raiwind on Saturday. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital.
