QUETTA:
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan on Friday arrested an accused from Islamabad Airport over embezzlement of Rs1 billion in the Balochistan Integrated Water Resource Management and Development Project.

A statement issued by NAB Balochistan said the initial inquiry was initiated against accused Siraj Khan in the mega corruption scam, with an accountability court handing over the accused to the bureau on six-day physical remand.

According to information, the accused had set up a fake construction company and through forgery obtained a tender for a project of the World Bank in Nari Garaj, worth of Rs1.23 billion.

“Acting on complaints lodged by various firms that participated in the tender bid, NAB launched the investigation against Siraj Khan and his fake firm,” the statement stated.

A search warrant was issued following investigation and gathering of evidence. “The accused fled to Islamabad but following a tip-off, Siraj Khan was arrested from Islamabad.” NAB officials said.
