Rawalpindi Director General Irfan Naeem Mangi hands over cheques to the affectees

ISLAMABAD: The Rawalpindi wing of the apex anti-corruption watchdog has recovered Rs490.585 million from the management of a housing society and distributed cheques worth Rs138.04 million amongst 4,200 affectees at a ceremony on Thursday.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi Director General Irfan Naeem Mangi handed over cheques to the affectees. Addressing the ceremony, he reiterated that the bureau will continue to pursue the corrupt element for cleaning society of the corrupt element, a statements said.

NAB strongly believes in a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and hopes that the joint efforts of all stakeholders can collaborate to check corruption and corrupt practices before happening with the help of all stakeholders, he said.

The management of Askaria Town illegally obtained Rs490.585 million from the public without obtaining permission from the Rawalpindi Development Authority to advertise the scheme and sold plots. The management of the society submitted an application for a plea bargain to Investigation Officer Asadullah Makhdoom against the pending claims. A total plea bargain of Rs490.585 million was accepted and the money was being returned in phases.
