Amid rising tension between India and Pakistan following the suicide attack on an Indian military convoy in occupied Kashmir, New Delhi removed the portrait of Prime Minister Imran Khan—former Pakistan cricket team captain—from the Cricket Club of India (CCI), Hindustan Times reported.

The portrait was placed in the All Rounder Restaurant in the club. A photograph of Imran Khan with his national teammates, which was placed on one of the walls of the club, has also been removed.

On February 14, a suicide car bomber rammed a bus carrying troopers belonging to Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the deadliest attack on Indian occupying forces there since 2002.

The suicide bombing outside Srinagar reportedly claimed by the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) group, saw explosives packed inside a van rip through buses in a convoy of 78 vehicles, carrying some 2,500 members of the paramilitary force.

Stop levelling baseless accusations, FM Qureshi tells India after Pulwama attack

India was quick to blame Pakistan even before their investigators reached the site to start probe. The Pakistani high commissioner was summoned by the Indian foreign secretary to issue a formal protest over the attack.

Islamabad, however, rejected the Indian baseless allegations and insisted that it always condemned ‘heightened violence’ in the valley.

India’s acting high commissioner was called to the Foreign Office to convey Pakistan’s strong protest over the Modi government’s attempts to link Islamabad with the Pulwama attack.
