LAHORE:
Ease of doing business was a more important factor than business growth for a sustainable economy, remarked Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Almas Hyder on Saturday. “It is a good omen that the present government is well aware of the importance of ease of doing business and is trying to change the scenario through economic reforms,” he noted, while talking to a group of business leaders at the LCCI. He said the importance of businesses could not be undermined for economic development as they provided jobs to the growing population, generate revenue for the government to run affairs of the state and attract foreign investment into the country, which not only provided employment but also brought new technologies. “Pakistan is at 136th place in the international index of ease of doing business, while ranking of a number of those countries, which have fewer resources, is better than us,” he pointed out.
