China follows UN on terror outfits listing criteria

China has said that the UN Security Council has set a detailed criteria for listing and designation of terror outfits and individuals, which it deliberates in an objective, unbiased and professional manner.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang was responding to a question regarding China’s response if India moves UNSC to place Jaish-e-Mohammed and its chief Masood Azhar on sanction list during a press conference on Friday.
The spokesperson said the JeM, which has reportedly claimed the attack on Indian security forces in occupied Kashmir which claimed 44 lives, is already on the UNSC sanctions list against terrorism.
However, the spokesperson added, “China will continue to deal with the relevant listing issue in a constructive and responsible manner”.
Earlier in 2017, China blocked Indian attempt to place the JeM chief on the global terrorist list on grounds that New Delhi had failed to provide any substantial evidence.
No solid evidence to ban Masood Azhar: China
Meanwhile, China condemned the suicide attack, expressed sympathy and offered condolences to the bereaved families.
“China firmly opposes and strongly condemns all forms of terrorism and hopes that relevant countries in the region could make joint efforts to combat terrorism," Shuang added.
Geng said Pakistan and India should resolve the issues of ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary through dialogue and consultation.
