Driver’s Safety: Campaign against worn out tyres

The National Highway and Motorway police on Friday launched a comprehensive campaign against worn out tyres.


This was announced by Motorways Inspector General (IG) Dr Muhammad Shafique.

The IG said that the chances of old tyres bursting during a drive and causing a serious accident were considerably greater during summer.

He directed the patrolling officers to check the treads of all vehicles entering the city with the help of tread-measuring gauges and restrict the entry of vehicles with poor tyres.

He said that banners will be displayed all motorway 2 and 3 and pamphlets will be distributed among commuter to raise awareness in this regard.

He also directed the officials to deploy additional officers at toll plazas and interchanges to monitor the vehicles.

Billoo Bhaya | 12 years ago | Reply Very good. Inspections should result in seizure of the vehicle until new tyres are installed on the vehicle. Otherwise, the car owners will never fix them.
