LAHORE:

Two men, including a former union council nazim, were injured when a fight started during an open court organised on the instructions of the chief minister.

The open court was held at Marry Land Banquet Hall in Allama Iqbal Town. Two people identified as former UC nazim Malik Khalid Khokhar and Sheikh Kashif were injured and taken to local hospital. The fight started after a speaker called some MPAs ‘incapable’ of dealing with the problems in their constituencies.

MNA Umer Sohail Zia Butt, MPA Ejaz Ahmad Khan, Main Muhammad Tariq and Chaudhry Qurban Hussain and coordinators and secretary to the CM were present at the open court.

Shahzad Awan, the banquet hall’s manager, said that the situation got out of control during former UC nazim Malik Khalid Khokhar’s speech. He said that the former nazim criticised the government for problems like load shedding and inflation. A fight among the audience started when Khokhar accused MPAs and MNAs of ineptitude.

Police were called and escorted the MNAs and the MPAs out of the hall.
