QUETTA:
Former Balochistan chief minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has said supremacy of parliament and independent judiciary are a must in providing relief to the people.

“For civilian supremacy, all mainstream political parties have no other option, but to unite,” said the National Party (NP) president while addressing a gathering in the Tanzag area of Turbat district the other day.

The former CM said, “Unfortunately martial laws in Pakistan did not allow democratic and constitutional institutions to grow, which has pushed back the country’s development.

“Civilised nations have reached the sky, but our people are still deprived of basic facilities. Our nation has rendered colossal sacrifices for supremacy of democracy, but after every 10 years a dictator ruins the masses’ strive.”

The NP president said his party was the only political force in Balochistan which had been defending the rights of the people of the province because other parties were not capable of leading the Baloch nations.

Lauding the efforts of veteran Baloch political leader Dr Muhammad Iqbal Baloch, Malik Baloch said, “The people of Tanzag have always supported the NP; therefore, I don’t feel strange here.”
