FAISALABAD:

A union council secretary died in his office due to a cardiac arrest after his boss reportedly reprimanded him over some minor official mistakes.

According to police officials, Lyalpur Town tehsil revenue officer (TRO) Ghulam Dastagir allegedly censured and insulted UC-183 secretary Muhammad Yousuf over some minor mistakes in one of his reports.

“He yelled at him and threw a paperweight in his direction. We could all hear what was happening in the office,” said Yousuf’s colleague Hassan. Following the incident, Muhammad Yousuf went to his office and sat at his desk. His colleagues told reporters that he began to have a heart attack and they immediately called an ambulance. “By the time the ambulance arrived he was already dead,” Hassan said.

The entire tehsil municipal administration (TMA) staff of the TMA immediately, gathered there and chanted slogans against the TRO.

The Union Councils’ secretaries and staff welfare union has called a meeting for Saturday, June 18, 2011, to take action against the TRO.
