Experts satisfied with Tarbela extension project
Turbine efficiency was found to be more than the level envisaged during model testing

The World Bank and an international panel of experts have praised the successful completion and effective operation of the 1,410-megawatt Tarbela fourth extension power project, commissioned in 2018 in a phased manner.
The World Bank and the panel of experts expressed these views in a meeting with Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority Chairman Muzammil Hussain on Thursday. The meeting was held after a four-day visit of the experts’ panel to the project site.
The panel expressed satisfaction over the functioning of various components of the Tarbela fourth extension project including civil works and electro-mechanical equipment. It was noted that the project was functioning according to designed specifications. The experts also noted with satisfaction that turbine efficiency was more than the level envisaged during model testing of the turbines.
