Six-member Saudi delegation arrives in Pakistan

Saudi team to oversee security arrangements ahead of Prince Salman’s two-day visit to the country on February 16

ISLAMABAD: A six-member delegation of the Saudi government arrived in the capital ahead of Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman’s visit to Pakistan on February 16. He is visiting the country on the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The Saudi delegation will oversee the arrangements for the Prince Salman’s two-day visit, according to the Express News.

Meanwhile, preparations to welcome the Saudi prince are being finalised.

According to details, Pakistan’s fighting jets will guard Prince Salman’s aircraft, from the moment it will enter its airspace until it lands safely at the Noor Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi. All commercial flights across the country will remain suspended during this time.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has also informed all the local and private airlines about this matter.



“Private airlines shall fix their schedules according to the arrival timing of Prince Salman’s aircraft,” said a circular sent to the private airlines by the CAA.

Another directive to move all the private planes from the parking areas of the Noor Khan Airbase and the Benazir Bhutto International Airport by Thursday evening (today) has also been issued.

Prince Salman will then be shifted to the Prime Minister House in Islamabad via road amid strict security. At least 100 wardens of City Traffic Police Rawalpindi will perform duties from the base till Koral Chowk.

Meanwhile, a 119-member advance Saudi team is also in Islamabad to evaluate the security arrangements in the capital.

More than 700 rooms in five hotels have been booked till February 18 for the royal entourage. The advance Saudi team is also staying at one of the Islamabad’s hotels in sector F-5/1 in which 280 room have been booked for Prince Salman’s delegations.

Saudi Arabia is expected to announce eight investment agreements during the visit.



Prince Salman will be accompanied by a high-powered delegation including members of the Saudi Royal family, key ministers and leading businessmen.

This will be the first state-level visit of the dignitary to Pakistan since his elevation to the position of the Crown Prince in April 2017.

During his visit, Prince Salman will call on President Arif Alvi. He will also meet the Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa. A delegation of Senate will also call on Prince Salman to discuss ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

The Saudi ministers accompanying the Saudi prince will meet their counterparts to discuss bilateral cooperation in their respective fields. The businessmen of the two countries will also meet to discuss opportunities for collaboration in the private sector.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will also be signing a number of agreements and MoUs in diverse sectors, including investment, finance, power, renewable energy, internal security, media, culture and sports.
