LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday dismissed a petition submitted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) seeking a change of bench hearing Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif's bail plea, Express News reported.

The court's top judge presided over the hearing. On the occasion, the NAB prosecutor alleged that the current LHC bench cannot hear Shehbaz's bail plea, citing a Supreme Court (SC) verdict in Zubair case as precedent.

In addition, the anti-graft body prosecutor further argued that Shehbaz's bail plea should be referred to an LHC bench headed by Justice Baqir Ali Najafi.

However, the court reserved the judgment and ruled that the existing bench shall hear the bail plea.

During the hearing, the NAB prosecutor also stated that a two-member bench headed by Justice Najafi had earlier rejected Shehbaz's bail plea.
