CDA demolishes illegal structures in Malpur

ISLAMABAD:
Several illegal structures constructed on the right-of-way on Murree Road in the Malpur area were demolished by the civic authorities as part of an anti-encroachment operation conducted on Sunday.
The structures were violating the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Zoning Regulations, the authority claimed.
The CDA said that an operation was carried out in collaboration with the Islamabad Capital Administration (ICT) and the Islamabad Police. Heavy machinery from the Machine Pool Organisation (MPO) Directorate of the CDA was utilised to demolish the illegal structures.
During the operation, encroachments established on CDA-acquired land were demolished including 11 illegally-built shops, a restaurant and four boundary walls constructed over several kanals of land.
Earlier, CDA had issued notices to these encroachers to stop their commercial activities and to remove their encroachments from state land within seven days on their own. After the deadline expired, CDA conducted the anti-encroachment operation and stopped commercial activates being carried out in violation of CDA Zoning Regulations.
