Villagers torture robber to death in Muzaffargarh
The villagers caught the robbers and beat them with sticks and iron rods
MUZAFFARGARH:
A robber was tortured to death by villagers in Muzaffargarh’s Jatoi tehsil on Sunday. An official from Shaher Sultan police station told Express News that two robbers barged into Zafar’s house with the intention to rob the place. He added that the accused held Zafar and his family hostage at gun point and looted valuables.
He maintained that the suspects also beat Zafar and two of his family members when they resisted.
In the meantime, the villagers got to know about the situation. When the robbers tried to escape, they were caught by the villagers who were armed with wooden sticks and iron rods, the official said. They beat and tortured the outlaws, he added.
As a result, one of the robbers identified as Asif died on the spot while his accomplice Fida Hussain sustained critical injuries, he maintained.
After the incident, police reached the crime scene and shifted the deceased and injured to a hospital for treatment and for an autopsy. Police have registered a murder case against the unidentified villagers and have opened investigations.
On January 21, a robber was killed in a shootout with villagers in Okara. Police said that three unidentified outlaws barged into a shop in Khaneki Saddar area and looted cash and valuables. When the culprits tried to escape, the villagers challenged them. As a result, the accused opened fire.
The villagers retaliated and during the crossfire one of the robbers was killed while his accomplices managed to flee the scene.
Police also seized looted cash and a pistol from the possession of the deceased outlaw.
