Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday blamed the current economic predicament of the country on the ‘two historic National Reconciliation Ordinances (NROs)’ offered to Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony for the Plant for Pakistan Tree plantation drive in Balloki on Saturday, PM Imran said that "We experienced historic losses, due to those NROs," the premier said adding Musharraf's NRO to former premier Nawaz Sharif and Zardari's NRO in the Swiss bank accounts case are the reasons for the country's rising debts.
"NROs gave the impression that powerful thieves are not apprehended. The same rulers who got NROs ruled for five years each. In the last decade, the debt mounted to Rs30,000 billion from Rs6,000 billion because no one apprehends big thieves."
Ruppee is depreciating due to debts, said PM Imran adding that the nation pays the ultimate cost for it. I see the responsible ones, saying how PTI had failed in five months to rectify the unstable conditions, the premier went on to add.
"The government will be revolting with the country, if it grants NRO to anyone."

We don't have to spare anyone who has bankrupted the country," said PM Imran adding that ruckus is being created in the assembly proceedings, yet the government was making the utmost effort to run the assembly.
"Not even under dictatorship, did we see a person charged with corruption serve as the Public Accounts Committee chairman." We will not spare any corrupt person or show leniency,” the premier reiterated.
While officially launching the 'Ten Billion Tree Plantation Drive' in Nankana Sahib on Saturday, PM Imran said that Pakistan stands 8th in terms of environmental change, said PM Imran, adding that If the weather keeps changing this way it would make it difficult for the coming generations to survive.

We have fewer forests and will face more droughts. I have seen these forests being cut down, said the premier
In the last 10 years, 10 per cent of the trees have been cut down. The old and the children in Lahore, their health is in an abysmal condition. "The forests we are growing are mandatory for your future." You have to stop deforestation for your future, for the future of your children. We have to grow 10 billion trees in next five years in Pakistan.
Over 1 billion trees were grown in Khyber-Pakhtunkwa in over a year, the premier announced." The world has acknowledged our forestation efforts in K-P.
The parks in our urban areas should be preserved. Where will our coming generations go if it will turn into cement? We have initiated jihad against land grabbers, said PM Imran, adding that such measures are necessary for your children and not me.
"We have decided to allow buildings to go as high rise as they can because the more the cities will sprawl, the more demands will rise."
There will be food security due to land security, we have to grow forests on the occupied lands, the premier went on add.
What we are doing to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another.”
