PESHAWAR: Fake cops will be easily screened out through verifying their cards by a hand held device. In the past, a number of terror incidents have occurred where terrorists acted in uniforms of law-enforcing agencies.

To catch the fake cops, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police have launched “Police Security Clearance Form” with the objective to carry out security clearance of all K-P police personnel from BS-1 to BS-17 (both executive and ministerial staff) and avert any untoward situation.

According to a statement, due to ongoing war against terror, security clearance of police personnel had become of vital importance. To achieve this goal K-P police developed software having details about police official. Police have so far computerised data of 75,238 of its employees.

A card, to be issued after clearance from district police office, will help the police force on spot identification of police personnel by using Hand Held Units (HHUs) and online verification.

The other benefits are upholding transparency and merit in postings, transfers, promotions, trainings, punishment and record as well as providing information about rank wise vacancy position.
