Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar to visit Karachi for Kaifi Azmi festival
The two-day event will take place on the 23 and 24 February at the Karachi Arts Council
Bollywood veteran actor Shabana Azmi and her husband, renowned poet and lyricist, Javed Akhtar will be visiting Karachi this month to attend a literary festival; which will pay homage to Shabana's father, Kaifi Azmi.
According to Express News, the two-day event will take place on February 23 and 24 at the Karachi Arts Council. The festival will pay tribute to the renowned poet and many famous personalities from Pakistan and across the border have been invited to attend.
The Indian Express confirmed their attendance at the conference as the Arts Council issued a statement on the matter.
“We have invited Kaifi Azmi’s daughter Shabana Azmi and her husband Javed Akhtar for the event besides some other notable cultural personalities from India,” an office bearer of the Arts Council said on Tuesday.
“It is a great opportunity for notable and popular writers, poets and artists from India to interact with their Pakistani counterparts and we are confident the festival will be a success,” Professor Ejaz Farooqi, secretary of the council, said.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Rozina also stated that Akhtar and Azmi have confirmed that they would be coming to Karachi for the event. The couple will also address the public.
The couple earlier visited Lahore in November last year for Faiz Ahmed Faiz festival.
