Vote transfer deadline set for Feb 28
Detail regarding information centres is available on the official website of the ECP
RAWALPINDI:
The district election commissioner has directed voters to transfer their vote as per the address mentioned on their Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) by February 28.
As per the Election Act of 2017, the voters have to register their vote on either the temporary or permanent address mentioned on their CNICs.
However, the ECP said there is an exemption for government officers and their family members (including spouses and children) who can register their vote to an address where they have been posted.
Rawalpindi District Election Commissioner Malik Muhammad Saleem Akhtar said that the voters who had registered their vote anywhere other than their permanent or temporary address on their CNICs are being directed to re-register using their updated address.
Akhtar said that for this purpose, voters can procure form 21, either from ECP’s website or from the office of the District Election Commissioner.
Furthermore, Akhtar said that the applicants must attach a photocopy of their original CNICs with the form when submitting them.
As per the Election Rules of 2017, the applicant must submit the form personally or family members could submit the form on their behalf accompanied with a consent letter signed by the applicant.
Moreover, voters can get information about their vote by sending a short message (SMS) to the ECP helpline ‘8300’. Information regarding information centres is available on the official website of the ECP.
