This is the message the South Zone Police wish to convey with their latest campaign against "influential" persons, who believe it is their right to flout the law.
On Sunday, the Boat Basin Police took a Toyota Landcruiser into custody. The vehicle in question belongs to the Excise and Taxation Adviser to the Balochistan Chief Minister. According to police personnel, the vehicle had fancy number plates, bearing the word "Minister" and the driver did not have the registration papers either. The vehicle was flanked down by a police squad near China Residency in Clifton Block 2 and was subsequently shifted to the police station under Section 550, for being found in a suspicious condition.

SHO Muhammad Ashfaq told The Express Tribune that the car is registered in the name of the Malik Naeem Khan Baz, who is adviser to the Balochistan CM on Excise and Taxation.
Police have taken legal action, because the papers of the car were unavailable and the vehicle bore fancy number plates.
South Zone SSP Pir Muhammad Shah told The Express Tribune that a new strategy has been adopted in jurisdiction, whereby, instead of snap-checking being done by establishing check posts, several teams have been formed to patrol the streets and take action against those flouting the law.
"The law will be enforced in South zone under all circumstances," he said. "Everyone - be the common or noble - will have to obey the law.
