LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate a health insurance programme for the poor and underprivileged strata of the society on Monday (tomorrow) in another step towards making Pakistan a welfare state, said Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar.

Speaking at the inauguration of a new project of Indus Pharma on Saturday, the governor underscored the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government’s efforts for bringing good governance and rule of law in country. “We will provide proper security to the foreign investors,” he said.

Sarwar said the health insurance programme was part of the government’s vision as provision of basic facilities of health and education was the responsibility of government.

The governor said that it’s a pity that previous governments had done nothing to restore industries. Now the government is supporting the revival of industry in order to make Pakistan a prosperous country, he added. “The revival of industries in Pakistan will create employment opportunities, increase exports and make Pakistan economically strong.”

He also spoke about improving the economic and law and order situation and putting the country on the path to prosperity. “It is our policy from day one that injustice and oppression will not be tolerated and the government will strongly react to any act of injustice,” he maintained.

Federal Minister for Health Amir Kayani and Sindh Governor Imran Ismail were also present on the occasion.
