ISLAMABAD:
Former All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) chairman Dr Muhammad Amjad, who was once considered a close aide of General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, announced joining the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday.
Dr Amjad announced his decision while meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad. Among others, senior PTI leader Naeemul Haq was also present on the occasion.
ATC irked over transactions from Musharraf’s frozen accounts
The former APML leader expressed complete confidence over manifesto and the leadership of the ruling party.
Dr Amjad was elevated to the position of APML chairman by Musharraf after he resigned from the post on June 22 last year.
APML, founded by Musharraf in 2010, had announced boycott of the 2013 elections just days before the balloting in protest against a life-time ban on its founder Pervez Musharraf from running for a public office. Two of its candidates, however, still contested and won two seats from Chitral.
