Sami eyes national team comeback

Discarded fast-bowler aims to impress selectors in the T20 league.

KARACHI:

The upcoming Super Eight Twenty20 Cup in Faisalabad may not be the first choice for many with the ongoing English county season, but fast-bowler Mohammad Sami is eagerly waiting for the tournament and sees it as a valuable opportunity to press for national selection.

"I'm looking forward to performing well," said Sami. "I've worked very hard in order to make a comeback in selectors' good books. I don't have fitness issues and have a lot of cricket left in me."

Sami, who was named to lead the Karachi Dolphins in the possible absence of former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, looks at the tournament as a tough task.

"All the teams are very good T20 sides. Our country has specialist players in this format and it is going to be a tough tournament."
