I did not threaten, support the murder of anyone: Sanaullah

Punjab Law Minister says he will write to the Governor to explain his position.

LAHORE:
Punjan Law Minister, Rana Sanaullah on Thursday said he had not threatened or supported the murder of anyone.

Sanaullah made the statement after he faced criticism from the Senate for making a controversial remark against Senator Babar Awan – one in which he declared that Senator Awan’s conduct makes him ‘liable to be murdered’ (wajib-ul-qatl).

Speaking to the media outside Punjab Assembly, Sanaullah said that the letter sent by Punjab Governor was unwarranted and that he should have summoned him instead. He said that he will write to the Governor to explain his position.

Sanaullah said that criticising parliamentarians including Babar Awan was his right, particularly when the latter criticised the Sharif brothers regularly.

Opposition leader in the provincial assembly, Raja Riaz urged Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to take action against Sanaullah over his remarks. He also wrote to the chief minister and said that the Pakistan Peoples Party will not block the passing of the budget in the assembly.
