PESHAWAR:
Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) on Tuesday launched a cleanliness competition between four neighbourhood councils.

The competition would be held among cleanliness staff of four neighbourhood councils of UC 8 Faqirabad, UC 10 Gulbahar, UC 34 Nauthia Jadeed and UC 39 Tehkal.

Sanitation and water supply staff will get commendation certificates and prizes if their area is declared ‘model neighbourhood’ on basis of cleanliness, revenue collection and clean water supply.

MPA Malik Wajid Khan inaugurated the competition in a ceremony at Charkhakhel Chowk in neighbourhood 94 of Union Council 34 Gulberg.

WSSP Chief Executive Officer Engr Khanzeb Khan, GM Operation Engr Ali Khan, district councilors and zonal managers WSSP were present on the occasion.

An awareness walk was also organised on the occasion and corner meetings were held with locals, urging them to cooperate with sanitation staff of WSSP.

Earlier, an awareness session was organised at the hujra of MPA Malik Wajid where local councilors and nazims were present.

A clean neighbourhood committee was formed for UC 34, comprising neighbourhood councilors and union council nazims during the ceremony.

Engr Khanzeb heard complaints of consumers and district councilors and directed zonal managers to address them within 24 hours.

Consumers were asked to lodge their complaints on 1334 or SafaPekhawar mobile application regarding water and sanitations.

To a question regarding waiving of arrears, he made it clear that there was no chance to waive off arrears.

“You better pay your arrears in instalments, I can do it, but if you want me to waive it is impossible,” he said.
