Two arrested for raping five-year-old minor

Victim’s mother said she discovered Kashif assaulting the minor while his friend Basit was keeping watch

A five-year-old girl was allegedly subjected to sexual assault in Bahawalpur, Express News reported. Police claim to have arrested two suspects involved in the incident.

An official from Darawar police station told Express News that the victim’s mother R*, a resident of Qasim Wala Bungalow, submitted a complaint, stating that her daughter U* was playing with other children outside her home when she suddenly disappeared.

R* stated when the girl did not came home, she and other people from the neighbourhood went to search for the missing child.

The woman maintained that while they were searching for her daughter, they heard her screams coming from an isolated place in the area. She stated that when they reached the spot, they found accused Kashif sexually assaulting U* while his friend Basit stood a few metres away, keeping watch.

The victim’s mother highlighted that when the culprits saw them approaching, they escaped from the scene despite their efforts to apprehend them.

Meanwhile, police managed to arrest both the suspects during a raid and registered a case no 11/19 against them at the police station. Further probe is under way.

In a similar incident that occurred on January 25, a cleric of a local madrassah was arrested for subjecting an eight-year-old girl to sexual assault in Muzaffargarh.

Police said S*, a resident of Moza Mubarak Pur, was enrolled at a madrassah situated in the area. The seminary was run by cleric Abdul Rehman. On the day of the incident, the girl went to the madrassah but did not return home. The victim’s family started searching for her and reached the seminary. When they entered the premises they saw accused Abdul Rehman sexually assaulting the girl in an isolated spot adjacent to the seminary.

The enraged family members caught the culprit and beat him. Later, they handed him over to the police.
