Abducted doctor’s body recovered from drain

The suspects revealed they had murdered the doctor and dumped his sack-packed body into a drain

LAHORE: An eye-specialist’s body was recovered from a drain in Gulshan-e-Ravi after a hectic search for two days.

The victim had been missing since January 22. The victim, identified as Waseem Ali, worked as a consultant doctor at a private hospital. He had gone missing on Tuesday under suspicious circumstances from Naseerabad after he set on work.

The father of the victim had registered a complaint to police fearing his son had been abducted.

Police registered an FIR against the unidentified suspect and lodged investigations into the case. They traced the vehicle of the victim using technical evidence.

Following other leads, they also arrested three suspects. The suspects revealed during interrogation that they had murdered the doctor and dumped his sack-packed body into a drain near Gulshan-e-Ravi Main Boulevard.

Police and rescue team launched a search operation for recovery of the body. The rescue teams faced huge difficulties in spotting the deceased as the drain was filled with waste. Besides, they also could not ascertain the exact location to start with.

The rescuers as part of their strategy started sailing with the current of the water while toeing the water, ground with sticks.

After hectic efforts spanning for two days, they finally succeeded in evacuating the body.

A police team removed the body to morgue for autopsy. Another police team was investigating the suspects further. However, they were yet to reveal their identity. Police said the motive behind abduction and murder will be ascertained after thorough investigations.

The body of a murdered victim was harmed by animals in Raiwind City on Saturday. The victim identified as Muhammad Javed was shot dead by unidentified suspects previous night. The accused persons had abandoned his body near Multan Road. Nearby stray animals attacked on it and tried to harm it. Later, the body was spotted and taken into possession by the family.

Meanwhile, another man was shot dead by unidentified suspect(s) in Raiwind. The victim identified as Waseem was going somewhere when the unidentified suspect(s) shot at him. He received bullet injuries and died.

The family of the victims staged a protest against their murders. They staged bodies on the road and blocked it for every kind of traffic. Police reached the spot on information and removed the bodies to the morgue for autopsy. They also collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and recorded the statements of the eye-witnesses. Police claimed that they were searching for the suspects.

In a unique incident of domestic violence, a man set on fire his own house after a dispute with his wife in Liaquatabad. According to eye-witnesses accounts, Ramzan, a resident of Rajputan Da Mohalla had exchanged harsh words with his wife over dropping her at her workplace. He was infuriated after the discussion when his wife said him something very harsh. Ramzan turned violent. He started torturing his wife. Later, he put the house on fire after sprinkling kerosene oil.

An eye-witness also alleged that Ramzan was also going to burn his wife. But, she saved her life jumping into her neighbours house. Nearby people called police and rescue teams that reached the spot on information to extinguish the fire. Police took the couple and shifted to the police station for further interrogation.

A Station House Officer (SHO) of Lahore Police has been found guilty of protecting a drug dealer. Police had arrested a drug dealer identified as Imran alias Mani at night on January 17. Former SHO Tariq Perviaz delayed not only registration of FIR but also misinformed senior police officers. The inordinate delay benefitted the suspect in securing bail. An inquiry was conducted against SHO in which he was found guilty said Lahore Police spokesperson.
