Somali Pirates: Released ship attacked again
The pirates release four Pakistanis and 18 others.
The MV Suez, recently released by Somali pirates and carrying Pakistani sailors, once again came under attack by pirates on Wednesday.
A group of pirates had attempted to recapture the ship after it was released, but crew members managed to overcome the assault and threw the pirates overboard. The MV Suez was abducted by Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden last August. The pirates had released four Pakistanis and 18 others they were holding hostage following negotiations lasting months. The 22 captives had been released after the pirates were paid $2.1 million in ransom, which was collected in collaboration by the Ansar Burney Welfare Trust, the Sindh government and the shipping company that owned the hijacked ship. Apart from four Pakistanis, captives include six Indians, one Sri Lankan and 11 Egyptians.
