LAHORE:
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Qamar Zaman Kaira has alleged that Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers have started usurping others’ properties.

Addressing a news conference here, at Lahore Press Club, PPP leader claimed that PTI MNA Faizul Hassan Shah had attempted to grab the land of one of his relatives.

He asked the ruling party’s lawmakers to refrain from such acts as it did not suit their profile and called upon the premier to order an independent inquiry into the incident.

Kaira questioned the policies of Tehreek-E-Insaf and asked if this was the ‘naya Pakistan’ where its leaders were trying to grab properties of others.

The PPP leader said that the incident had both personal and political motives. Kaira said that Chaudhry Sharif was being victimized because he was his cousin. “Chaudhry Sharif, whose property was under discussion, is my cousin and my daughter’s in-laws,” the PPP leader informed.

“Chaudhry and his brother returned to Pakistan from America and set up a hotel here and acquired land on both sides of Shah’s property”.

Kaira told that earlier Shah had filed a suit against Chaudhry but the matter was rejected on all forums including the National Accountability Bureau.

The PPP leader alleged that the matter was also in the knowledge of assistant commissioner and board of revenue officials.

“We have obtained stay orders from the court but still PTI lawmaker attempted to grab this land.”

The former minister claimed that PTI leaders in connivance with the government were trying to take over the properties of others.

He told that he approached senior police officials for help who late in the night conducted a raid and foiled the land grabbing attempt.

Kaira said he had experienced such things in the past but would not surrender to such means.

“We have witnessed similar tactics during Musharraf’s regime,” he said.

“But we would never let the ruling party lawmakers grab our property.”

He noted, “I don’t want to give this case a political colour but we are raising voice for our right”.

Kaira pointed out that Shah was a member of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz before joining PTI.

“Those who were in other parties earlier had joined PTI and are on money making spree.”

The PPP leader maintained that Prime Minister Imran Khan had started understanding ground realities of politics after coming into power and earlier he was only making tall claims.
