On Tuesday, officials of the Sindh Information Department distributed statements made by PPP legislators among reporters in the press gallery.
PPP members, including Nadeem Bhutto, Dr Sikander Shoro, Javeed Shah, Fayyad Butt and Imran Zaffar Leghari condemned the MQM Rabita Committee’s statement that notorious target killer Ajmal Pahari’s lawyer, Zia Alam, was killed on the directives of Zulfiqar Mirza, senior vice president of PPP Sindh.
The MPAs pointed out that Alam was a former member of PPP Sindh Council and the MQM’s statements do little besides worsening the relations between the coalition partners.
However, the same officials who distributed the statements came running after the journalists and asked them not to publish them. “The MQM leaders have reportedly withdrawn the statement, therefore we have been asked not to release our,” an officer said. Nevertheless, by Tuesday night, the officials contacted the journalists again and said that, “We have received the green signal from the ruling party to release the news, so please give it the space”.
Meanwhile, Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah told the media outside the Sindh Assembly that the allegations against Mirza were baseless and he would talk to the governor on the issue.
