A man tortured his wife and cut her hair after she sought a divorce from him.
According to Layyah resident Khalida Bibi, she was shifted to Nishtar Hpspital Multan on Tuesday evening after her husband Nadeem chopped her hair and cut off her ear. “He took a knife to me while I was asleep. When I began struggling, I realised I was tied up,” she told police officials.
Khalida Bibi said that she had gone to the local court to petition for a divorce from her husband Nadeem several weeks ago. “My sister went with me to the court because we knew that if he found out then he would attack us. I told the court that he was abusive and an alcoholic,” she said.
Nadeem and his accomplice, Azhar, tied Khalida Bibi, after breaking into her parent’s house on Tuesday evening and cut off her hair and ear. Khalida’s mother Sughran Bibi said that she heard her screams and called the police. Doctors at Nishtar Hospital Multan said that Khalida Bibi was in serious condition. “She needs surgery because when he chopped off her hair some of her scalp was completely exposed. We are trying to repair the damage,” said plastic surgeon Dr Moeed Farooq.
