KARACHI:
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced on Wednesday that seven experienced officers of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) will be posted at different positions for the national flag carrier.

Airline's spokesperson Mashood Tajwar said four officers are designated to PIA CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik.

The remaining three, he added, would be working in different capacities for the airline.

Officers from flight lieutenant to air marshal ranks will be deputed.

Sources said that the step had been taken to help achieve the targets set by the government, and slash the losses being incurred by PIA.

The decision, insiders added, had been taken to steer the cash-strapped airline into the right direction.

The airline's CEO will initially serve as acting head while other officers include Air Vice Marshal Subhan Nazir Syed, Air Vice Marshal Noor Abbas and Air Commodore Khalidur Rehman.

The officers, who will be deputed for a period between one and three years, will oversee procession engineering, chief executive secretariat, and information technology.

The responsibilities of budgeting, food services, PAC projects, finance and the HR department have also been handed over to them in order to improve the airline's performance.
