Qatari Emir assures Pakistan of support in diverse fields
Sheikh Tamim, PM Imran discuss trade, military cooperation

Prime Minister Imran Khan held a one-on-one meeting with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at Diwan-e-Amiri on Tuesday and discussed strengthening of trade relations, as well as joint investments, energy, food security and military cooperation.
According to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the delegation-level talks were also held between the prime minister and the emir. All issues of bilateral nature, especially strengthening of the economic and trade relations between the two countries, were discussed during the one-on-one and delegation-level talks.
The two leaders also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The prime minister was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Petroleum Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan, PM’s Adviser Abdul Razak Dawood, Special Assistant Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, Board of Investment Chairman Haroon Sharif, Chairperson Task Force on Energy Nadeem Babar and Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua.
Prime Minister Imran, leading a high-profile delegation, arrived in Qatar on Monday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of the emir. Upon his arrival at Diwan-e-Amiri, Khan was officially welcomed by Sheikh Tamim. The prime minister also attended a luncheon hosted in his honour by the emir.
A joint statement issued at the conclusion of the prime minister’s two days visit said that the “Qatari Emir also extended his support for Pakistan in diverse fields”. It said that the prime minister visited Qatar on the invitation of Sheikh Tamim.
In the one-on-one meeting between Premier Imran and Emir Sheikh Tamim, matters related to bilateral relations and international scenario came under discussion. Sheikh Tamim also congratulated Khan for assuming charge as the prime minister of Pakistan, the statement added.

The joint declaration said that Prime Minister Imran Khan thanked Qatari leadership for the announcement of providing jobs to as many as 100,000 Pakistanis. Khan also invited Qatari Emir to visit Pakistan, which was accepted by Sheikh Tamim, the statement read.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Sikh community in Qatar called on Prime Minister Khan and thanked him for the ground-breaking of the Kartarpur corridor. They said that by laying the foundation stone of Kartarpur corridor, Prime Minister Khan had won the hearts of Sikh community.
Also, chairmen and senior representatives of various Qatari business organisations and groups separately met the prime minister and discussed matters of bilateral and mutual interest. Those who met the prime minister included Sheikh Faisal Bin Qasim Bin Faisal Al-Thani, Chairman Qatar Business Association; Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General Supreme Committee for Legacy and Delivery (FIFA 2022); Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammad Al Thani, Chairman Qatar Chamber and Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser bin Khaled Al Thani of the NBK Group.
