IGP seeks report on student’s death

SSP of Jamshoro district forms an inquiry team

HYDERABAD: Sindh Police Chief IG Dr Kaleem Imam directed Hyderabad DIG Naeem Shaikh on Friday to submit a report on the alleged suicide of a student of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro. SSP of Jamshoro district, Touqeer Muhammad Naeem, has also constituted an inquiry team. Jamshoro SHO Ashfaq Mangi said that the team visited the place of incident and recorded statements of the family, students and inmates. He added that blood samples, mobile phone and the pistol recovered with the body had been sent for forensic testing. Prof Ferozuddin Kalhoro, who heads LUMHS’ constituted inquiry committee, said that they had started a separate investigation. Muhammad Atif Arain, a 21-year-old 3rd year MBBS student, was found  shot dead in his hostel room on Thursday.
