A suspect involved in a triple murder case was arrested by Bhakkar police, Express News reported on Wednesday. The accused had killed his aunt and two cousins a few days ago.

While providing details, Bhakkar DPO Shaista Nadeem said the culprit had been arrested along with the murder weapon.  She added Muhammad Adil, a resident of Razai Shah area, was a nephew of Azizan Mai. She maintained that the suspect used to visit the victim’s house and the two had good relations.

She revealed that on the day of the incident, Adil went to his aunt’s house with the intention to commit robbery. The DPO pointed out that matters took a turn for the worst when the suspect grabbed Azizan Mai and strangled her to death with a cloth. Later, he also slit the throats of his cousins, identified as seven-year-old Rafiya, and five-year-old Abid.

She highlighted that after committing the offence, the culprit fled the scene along with the booty. She revealed that after the tragic incident, teams of the Saddar police station and Central Investigation Agency (CIA) carried out a detailed investigation into the matter. After three days, the police managed to trace the culprit and arrested him, Shaista said.

The police official mentioned the raiding teams also seized more than Rs0.2 million that Adil had looted from his aunt’s house.

The DPO said that the people of the area were living in constant fear after the brutal incident. “The suspect’s arrest was a major breakthrough and those police officials who made efforts to solve the case will be awarded cash prizes and certificates,” Shaista Nadeem said.

Earlier, police arrested two suspects who were involved in a dual murder case in Rahim Yar Khan.

Abdul Jabbar Arain and Usman Ali had killed 16-year-old Noman Khokhar and 18-year-old Shahbaz in a bid to snatch their motorcycle rickshaws.

The suspects took both of the victims to the outskirts of the city, promising to pay them a significant amount of money for the journey. After reaching an isolated place, the accused covered their faces with a piece of cloth and strangled them with a rope.

After murdering the victims, the culprits buried their bodies in a ditch and fled with the motorcycle rickshaws.

The accused used to sell motorcycle rickshaws after stealing them. Both the suspects were involved in a number of criminal activities.
