LCCI seeks withdrawal of higher fees
LCCI president laments that industry could not afford a rise, which is bound to jack-up the cost of doing business
LAHORE:
The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) demanded on Tuesday an immediate withdrawal of hike in the National Highway Authority (NHA) charges, including NOC fee, approach rentals and security. In a statement, the LCCI President Almas Hyder lamented that the industry could not afford a rise, which is bound to jack-up the cost of doing business and steer non-competitiveness of the local industry. “Recently, the National Highway Authority has raised the fee of NOCs, rentals and security over 100% to utilise NHA rights of way,” he said. “Now, industrial units established within an acre of land, along NHA network will have to pay Rs2 million one-time NOC fee, Rs50,000 annual charge for rentals and refundable security of Rs100,000.
