QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly opposition leader Advocate Malik Sikandar has said there is no visible developmental work in other parts of the province except Gwadar as its central to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Talking to newsmen on Monday, the opposition leader said details of the uplift projects related to the mega scheme have not been shared with the opposition.

He said that it seems Balochistan’s representative on CPEC Chief Minister Jam Kamal has failed in his job. “The CM has shown utter negligence,” he added.

Sikandar slammed the policies of the incumbent government, saying that it has been unsuccessful in running the government machinery of the province.

The ineptness of the government has further pushed the province towards deprivation, he added.

All developmental works have been paused owing to the negligence of government, he said, adding that unemployment has increased manifold. And this has increased sense deprivation among the youth of province, he added.

Sikandar said that the opposition had highlighted the issues of Balochistan and criticised governing policies but the government paid no heed.

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader said the opposition is interested in welfare and well being of the people.

He said, “We are democratic people and we believe in democracy. But the prevailing situation may increase the problems for government."
