PAC chair likely to go to an MPA from tribal districts
Standing committees also expected to see changes
PESHAWAR:
The chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly is likely to go to an MPA from the merged tribal districts after the provincial assembly elections are held in ex-Fata, sources said.
Besides PAC, changes in other standing committees of K-P assembly are also expected following the elections in the merged districts of ex-Fata.
According to political analysts, the standing committees of the K-P assembly will see structural changes in term of membership and chair.
Sources said that some elected representatives from tribal districts were likely to be made heads of the standing committees. Besides, these panels will take on board new comers from the merged districts.
They said that the chair of Public Accounts Committee was also expected to go to a tribal MPA.
However, an amendment in the rules was necessary for this purpose, they said. Thirty six standing committees, including PAC, have been constituted in K-P assembly for which the government and opposition members have been appointed as chairpersons.
However, after provincial assembly elections in the tribal district, changes will be made in the two standing committees and the chairpersonship of these committees will be given to tribal representatives.
In this regard, sources of the assembly secretariat also confirmed the development saying that after the arrival of tribal representatives in the assembly, at least the chairpersonship of two committees will be handed over to them. According to the assembly laws, the number of members of the public accounts committee is 11 but after the arrival of tribal representatives in the assembly, they will be given representation in the PAC for which an amendment in the assembly rules and regulations will be necessary.
