A woman was violently attacked by her ex boyfriend after she 'changed her Facebook profile picture', Mail Online reported.

Lois Ashton, from Liverpool, was kicked so hard in the face that three of her teeth fell out and one was pushed through her gums into her nose.

The 29-year-old, who is now forced to wear dentures, was attacked by ex-boyfriend Andrew McNair following a night out with friends.

McNair, who has been jailed for 36 months, launched the violent assault after he saw Ashton had taken him off her profile picture.

"He was lovely at first and so nice to me. But as the months went by he changed.I remember the first time he slapped me across the face. Another time he kicked me in the head and gave me a black eye," she said.

"I should have left him for good at that point, but he was on the phone every day and saying how sorry he was and crying, so I would end up going back,' she added.

Ashton, who now has PTSD, said she "thought she was going to die" during the abuse and had to crawl into the street to get help.

On the night of the attack, McNair had tagged along on a "girly night out" with Ashton and her friends.

"We went to a pub but he didn't even sit with us, he just sat in another booth just staring at us," Ashton said.

After the pub, Ms Ashton had left McNair to go to her friends house to have cocktails.

She said she went to bed that evening having changed her Facebook profile picture to one of her on her won.

But the following morning she awoke to McNair standing on her legs and screaming at her.
