DC sports fest kicks off with taekwondo bouts

More than 500 athletes, men and women, compete in various events

PESHAWAR: The first Peshawar Deputy Commissioner Sports Festival opened with great fanfare at the Hayatabad Sports Complex.

More than 500 athletes, men and women, are competing in various events.

The festival, being held with the cooperation of the K-P Sports Directorate, opened with taekwondo matches at Hayatabad Sports Complex. Former provincial minister sports Syed Aqil Shah inaugurated the championship. Table Tennis Association Chairman Kafayat Ullah, Taekwondo Association Chairman Ilyas Afridi, Secretary Waqar Afridi, tournament organizer Muhammad Riaz were also present.

In the opening match of football, the Sheikh Club Mardan defeated the Hayatabad Football Academy by 3-2.
