Punjab Government focuses on Lahore’s theatre circuit
The Cultural Minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan has been focusing on the welfare of Lahore’s theatre circuit. New policies for theatre performances are being introduced and an Advisory Committee has also been established. The new committee will monitor the scripts and dialogues of stage dramas before they are staged for the public. A new timetable for dramas being performed at Alhamra Hall has been introduced according to which all shows will have to begin at 8:oo pm and end by 10pm during winter whereas during summer, the shows will commence from 9pm to 11pm.
Sarmad Khoosat’s latest project gets a name
Sarmad Khoosat’s revealed that his upcoming Punjabi film is titled Zindagi Tamasha. Khoosat has purchased the rights for Afshan Beghum’s 1974 song Zindagi Tamasha Bani to be featured in the film. In a recent interview, Sarmad shared that the film shall be shot in Lahore and will be in Punjabi to keep it as authentic as possible. Arif Hasan, Ali Kureishi, Samiya Mumtaz and Eman Suleiman shall be in the lead.
Bohemian Rhapsody’ bags top awards for Golden Globes 2019
While everyone had their eyes on Lady Gaga and Bradley cooper starrer A Star Is Born, it took critics by surprise that Bohemian Rhapsody was the film to bag the most awards. Rami Malek won best drama actor for his role as late Queen Frontman Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, and Glenn Close won for The Wife over presumed favourite Lady Gaga in A Star Is Born. Lady Gaga, whose role in the movie was her first lead part after a successful music career, won best original song for Shallow.
Sara Ali Khan glad her parents were not together
In a recent interview Sara Ali Khan revealed that she would rather have her parents live in separate homes and be happy than have them live together and lead unhappy lives. “I know they would have never been happy together. And if they were not happy, I would not have been happy” she added “I have a very hands-on mother. She did nothing but look after me and my brother. My father was always a phone call away for both of us. I’ve never felt he was not there for me.”
Abhishek Bachchan’s surprise proposal left Aishwarya Rai stunned
In an upcoming episode of a celebrity chat show, Aishwarya Rai shared the ordeal of her ‘Roka’ ceremony. Reminiscing the moment, she said, “He proposed, which was amazing! It all happened really suddenly. Abhishek gave me a call saying his family is coming over for the roka, I didn’t even know what that was. I told him that my father is out of town and will be back in a day but Abhishek told me he can’t ask his father to turn around now. So it all happened in a day, we went back to his house, people came to congratulate us and my side of the family still wasn’t sure what had just happened.”
I would love to perform in Pakistan says Indian actor and comedian Vir Das
After the success of his Netflix release Abroad Understanding, Delhi Belly actor Vir Dar has been focusing more on his career as a stand-up comedian. He recently shared his desire to perform in Pakistan via twitter. “I’m just going to put this out there because I get asked it a lot. I would love to do a show in Pakistan, never have been offered one and ironically get told to go there every day” he wrote. Ali Gul Pir took the opportunity and invited him to Pakistan for a show and even proposed a name for it. “We would love to have you here! We can put together a show and maybe call it Line of Uncontrollable Laughter.”
