World Blood Donor Day: Motorway police to hold blood drive

The programme aims to create awareness about the importance of blood donation.

PESHAWAR:
The National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP), in collaboration with Hamza Foundation, will hold a day-long blood donation camp on June 14 at the Motorway Toll Plaza to observe World Blood Donor Day. NH&MP SSP Tahir Khan will formally inaugurate the blood camp. The programme aims to create awareness about the importance of blood donation. The Hamza Foundation spokesman lauded NH&MP’s efforts for extending support to the foundation and has promised to make the blood drive a huge success. World Blood Donor Day will be celebrated across the world on June 14 where people from all walks of life will voluntarily donate blood to save lives. The day is marked on June 14 to pay tribute to Karl Landsteiner, the founder of the ABO blood group system, for which he won the Nobel Prize.
