NAB arrest former DPO over corruption charges
At least Rs550 million were embezzled during former DPO's tenure

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has arrested a former district police officer (DPO), Kamran Mumtaz, over embezzlement in Gujrat police fund.
The accused had served as DPO Gujrat from 2015-2016. At least Rs550 million were embezzled during his tenure. The funds were used in the heads of investigations cost, bogus petrol bills, fake allowances and martyrs fund. At least Rs60 million were embezzled under the heads of bogus bills.
The accused person was studying abroad. NAB summoned him for the investigations into the case. NAB had approved investigations of the case from inquiry stage in NAB Lahore Board meeting.
Earlier, a team of NAB Lahore had arrested Rai Ejaz from Karachi. He was accused of embezzlement of Rs700 million from the Gujrat police funds.
The anti-graft watchdog also apprehended the suspended district accounts officer Chan Peer, Food Department Deputy Director Muhammad Afzal, Naqdi Moharar appointed at DPO Gujrat office Muhammad Fayyaz, former constable DPO Gujrat office Rameez Ahmed, senior account officer Muhammad Ashraf, National Bank Manager Muhammad Asif Butt, National Bank Operations Manager Shakeel Ahmed and the owners of a petrol pump Sagheer Ahmed and Ghulam Sarwar. The accused individuals are in NAB’s custody.
