Children most vulnerable to diseases

A few precautionary measures can make you stay away from hospitals says specialist

RAWALPINDI: Children are the most vulnerable to catch seasonal diseases and hence require extra care and attention. This was stated by the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) Ear-Nose-Throat specialist Dr Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry. He said that children were the most vulnerable to ailments in winter with diarrhoea, skin problems and dryness among the most common problems.

“They should be given food rich in vitamin A,” he suggested, advising that children must stay warm in order to avoid colds, flu, skin cracks and joint pains among other respiratory ailments.

A few precautionary measures can make you stay away from hospitals that have already started receiving a large number of patients complaining of respiratory problems,” he said.

Viral infections ‘spread like wildfire’ and are capable of being transmitted from person-to-person within hours, he warned.
