Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday said that attempts were being made to intimidate him in guise of ongoing investigation in fake bank accounts case.

He said this while meeting with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Islamabad, Express News reported. The two leaders discussed overall political situation of the country.

JIT requests SC to freeze 37 assets of Zardari, Omni Group

Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Fazl said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s failures have been revealed to public. He said worst kind of rigging took place in last year’s general elections, adding that the country’s economy was in dire straits with no clear vision in front of this government.

The JUI-F chief insisted that there was no hidden agenda behind today’s meeting with the PPP supremo.

The meeting took place the same day when the joint investigation team (JIT), probing the Rs35 billion fake accounts scam, requested the Supreme Court to freeze 37 assets belonging to the Zardari family.

Bilawal demands accountability of those who 'stole public mandate'

Meanwhile, Zardari’s son Bilawal has questioned if those, who ‘stole millions of votes’ of the masses, will be held accountable at all. The PPP chairman said the PTI government had failed to meet the expectations of the people.

“These people think that whoever takes a U-turn is a great leader … the incumbent rulers have made blame-game an affair of the state.”
