Army, Iran also win on opening day.
KARACHI:
Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Pakistan Army and Iran emerged victorious on the opening day of the International Beach Kabaddi Tournament in Islamabad.
Wapda dominated in the first round by taking five points but PAF bounced back and grabbed a 20-point lead in the second round, capitalising on their efforts to seal a close 42-37 win. PAF grabbed four points after their win.
“It’s very exciting now that Iran and Afghanistan are also playing,” PAF captain Mohammad Rasool told The Express Tribune. “Participation from other countries has made it very motivating for us.”
Meanwhile, Army beat Navy 30-39 and Iran thrashed Afghanistan 43-12 in the other matches of the opening day. The three-day event features 11 teams including Iran, Afghanistan and nine departmental teams of Pakistan which include Wapda, PAF, Navy, Army and the Police.
