This was stated by religious scholars, political leaders and intellectuals at a seminar arranged by Peace and Education Organisation on Thursday.
During the three-day training workshop the participants discussed Islamic values, democracy, and various aspects of democratic values in the country stressing upon religious scholars to play their role in fostering Islamic culture under democracy.
Speaking on the occasion, Balochistan Assembly opposition leader Advocate Malik Sikandar said vote has been given a special space in the Islamic system through which people can elect leaders that have capabilities to resolve public issues.
“Without imparting awareness regarding importance of vote among the masses we can’t bring change in our system, religious leadership should provide guidelines to general public and foster Islamic values that exist in our constitution,” said Sikandar.
Provincial Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Babar Musakhail said religious scholars have responsibility of providing right direction to the public because without public awareness the governments can’t develop an educated society.
“Public should realize their power and must hold accountable their representatives,” he added.
